Burs is a 4-piece folk/rock band comprised of the guitar-playing-songwriting duo of Lauren Dillen and Ray Goudy, bass player and sound maker Devon Savas, and the rhythmically and technologically savvy Oliver Compton on drums. Formed in 2019 while attending the Bachelor of Music program at Humber College while bonding over a shared love of Joni Mitchell, wildflowers, and 35mm film, Burs create music for connection and catharsis. They consistently attempt to draw a big circle around traditional folk, rock, and indie instrumentation alongside emotional and meaningful lyricism, and modern production techniques, all while doing their best to not alienate their audience with too many references to obscure 60s folk artists. Having spent the last eight months writing and recording new music, they are excited to release their first EP in the spring of 2020. Their institutional musical training (a combined total of 14 years) and music-filled upbringings has allowed them to create a body of work they are very proud of. At the end of the day, all Burs wants is to do justice to their namesake: create small things that stick with you.
