Claire Coupland

With vocal colours comparable to Brandi Carlile, Joni Mitchell, and Jann Arden, Claire has the ability to silence a room with her warm voice, pure intonation and dynamic delivery. Combining soft soprano sweetness and a soulful alto range, she “sings like a broken sparrow” (Vance Gilbert). Coupland tells heartfelt stories of life’s lessons in emotion packed, song driven arrangements. Using alternate tunings and smooth fingerpicking, she brings a fresh, graceful feel to contemporary folk, and is sure to move audiences with skillfully crafted songs but also charm them with her “wicked sense of humour” (Rik Emmett, Triumph).

Originally from Vancouver Island, Claire is a Toronto based singer-songwriter. After being accepted into Humber Music’s degree, Claire began writing in 2012, and hasn’t looked back since. She was a feature songwriter for Humber’s “Producer In Residence Week” with Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd’s “The Wall”, Alice Cooper, KISS, 30 Seconds to Mars, Peter Gabriel), was a performer for the David Foster 25th Anniversary Celebration in 2012, has earned CBC, college, and community radio airplay across the country, executed two band tours in Canada, including 3 transcontinental journeys as Artist On Board for VIA Rail, and is currently working on a full length album release.
