At 21 years old, Julien Kelland already has two EPs under her belt, over 1 million YouTube views, and two viral videos. Most recently, her single “Death of Me” has found tremendous success on Spotify playlists, as well as three TV placements (to date), including Freeform’s “Siren”, MTV’s “Are You The One”, and MTV’s “Ghosted”. This doesn’t come as a surprise, considering this Toronto-based artist started singing as soon as she could talk. Her powerful vocals have captivated audiences opening for Doc Walker, SPOONS, Tyler Shaw, and Platinum Blond. Julien has performed hundreds of shows all over Ontario including HitsFest, The Horseshoe Tavern, and a sold out EP release in her hometown in July 2017. Over the years, she has developed her own voice as an artist and songwriter. Pulling influences from Banks, Bishop Briggs, Billie Eilish, and Adele, Julien is creating her own version of “Dark Pop” that is almost cinematic in production and features big choruses filled with atmospheric brass synth and minimalistic percussion combined with real instruments like guitar and piano, while layered above are her signature, pure vocals with hauntingly beautiful melodies. This alternative/pop singer is making huge strides toward her goals in the music industry.
Julien found her love for music at a very young age. She began studying voice through the Royal Conservatory of Music at age six, and is currently working towards her ARCT. Though her main passion lives within writing and recording more contemporary styles, Julien also teaches voice and takes great pride in sharing her love of music with young singers. Julien’s philanthropic endeavours include involvement in Cam’s Kids, Canadian Tire JumpStart, & Compassion.
