The Django Djunkies

The Django Djunkies play music known as Gypsy Swing or Gypsy Jazz. This is a style of music from the 1920s and ongoing which is based on a European interpretation of early jazz and jazz standards in combination with European influenced styles and new compositions. Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grappelli were early proponents of this style and modern performers such as Bireli Lagrene and Stocholo Rosenberg (Rosenberg Trio) carry on the tradition. Our group consists of two guitars, upright bass and mandolin/violin virtuoso Conrad Kipping. Occasionally we are joined by accordionist Ron Sellwood or vocalist Stella Long.
