David Owen

Born in Ottawa, weaned on Irish folk music, David quickly developed a love for traditional folk music.

At an Ottawa blues festival as a teen, he heard John Hammond and so began his eventful blues pilgrimage. Soon after hitchhiking to Toronto (with no means of return), David honed his skills sharing the stage with blues greats, Downchild Blues Band, Sue Foley, Big Bill Morganfield, Bobby Blue Bland and Dave Van Ronk. This is where David developed his unique propulsive guitar style and mean-as-a-toothache harmonica playing, bringing a fresh approach as a singer/songwriter to traditional blues/folk music.
